Contagious solidarity
With most social organisations and structures shut down, many people in need are facing serious problems. Shelters for the homeless, food banks, drug addiction centres, etc. are mostly closed or only working very limited around the world. In reponse to this issue, the idea of the ‘Gabenzaun’ (roughly translates to gift fence) has emerged. People can put up bags with clothes, foods, and other things that might help people in need during these difficult times (and beyond). Apparently, some gift fences have already existed before the crisis, but since then they are popping up all around in Germany. There are local groups that organise via Telegram to take care of them and a map which shows all of them with the respective info: https://gabenzaun.de/ Nice!!

The title of this post is inspired by Friederike Habermann’s new blog called ‘Ansteckend solidarisch’, where she posts everything solidary in relation to the corona crisis. Nice!!
